So, what is everyones views on the candidates? Also, who do you like?

Me, I like Ron Paul. His message of protecting our Constitutional rights are impossible not to like. He also believes we should stop being the police of the world and stop trying to turn into an empire. His economic views are also dead on; he is the only candidate who understands economics. He knows exactly what is wrong with the dollar. He knows that the only way to have a sound currency is to get back on the Gold Standard and stop printing money out of thin air.

Well, too bad I can't vote yet!!! lol!

Tink, are a lot of your friends into politics too? If so, that's pretty cool. When I was too young to vote, I was into politics, but back then we where mainly worried about getting shot in Vietnam. I don't remember any of us being into (or even understanding the word) economics. Are you also into economics? Wouldn't it be nice if all the candidates understood economics?

You may very well be right Tinky, I dont dispute he could be a good thing for America, The Neo-cons and the Powerhouses behind the destruction of the constitution will never let that Happen, People in this Country have a sad tendency to just go along with what they know, There is more than Meets the eye going on and history has proven that Free Thinkers and do good type people never stand a chance........It makes me Happy to see you feel the country needs change and I am right with you......I just dont think Ron Paul will be the guy to effect that change, I am sad to Say I dont see a knight in shinning Armor comming along to save America anytime soon, This country is circling the drain and I just think things will continue to evolve until we are faced with Socialism.........Take care ......

I had a feeling your friends didn't care. And I think your view is refreshing. A lot of the young folks I know are all for Obama. They won't admit it, but I think the main thing they like about him is his age; he's young and so are they, so he's got to be good. When I mention that he began as a ward politician in Chicago (and the only way to become one of those guys is to go along with the most corrupt political machine in the country) they don't want to hear about it.

As for me I'm a Democrat, but I think I'll have to vote for McCain. I can't trust Clinton or Obama. McCain has more character than both of them.

My problem with McCain is that is is tied too much with Bush and I think him and Bush have something planned that will be in their favor, not the U.S.

From what I have read and studied, I know 3 things is certain....

1) The Next president will probably only serve 1 term because our country's economy and dollar will collapse on them and they will get the blame.

2) The Libertarians or a 3rd Party better be ready for the next election, because this country will be looking for a new party to turn to. Not just the Dems or Reps.

3) Every single thing Bush and Master Cheney have done for this country has been to protect their fortunes, not what was best for the country. Ie. Iraq, 9-11, ect. Rebuilding companies and arms manufactuers are what they have their major stocks and investments in. Their making money out their hind-ends. Bush and Cheney are not the only people who are involved in this either.
Just my view.... lol!

Yeah, I'm not real eager to vote for Mccain either. I am thinking it's time to start resticting imports - get some of our jobs back in this country. No more Chinese stuff. No more out-sourcing jobs to India. Start making TV's in America again. Things will cost more, but at least people in this country will have jobs again.

Tinky.. even though we stopped politics on our site I'll answer you here.. Ron Paul is a pipe dream he will never get elected...not enough people know about him.. Its a waste of breath even talking about him..and I'm wasting my time typing about him..

The 3 running now for president are all worthless and I don't even feel like voting.. McCain is coming off as a hawk and we have had 8 years of that crap now and I'm tired of it..

I don't like either democratic choice as they are hiding what they both believe in (socialism)

The only reason people don't know about Ron Paul is that mainstream media is censoring him. What many people don't know is that the Media is controlled by are corrupt government and the networks are owned by companies such as GE. GE is a Major weapons manufacturer. If Ron Paul was to get elected, they will be out of Billions of dollars because their will be no more policeing the world or war and they will not need to make weapons anymore. They are trying to cover him up for that reason.

And as far as Ron Paul not ever being elected, well, that might be a little harsh. LOL! Very Happy

I really don't think the democrats want socialism. They know a progressive tax-rate (which must be part of socialism) would never pass. They might talk big about health-care for all (which I wish we had) and free college for all, but that's just talk. The cost of those programs would put us into debt deeper than we already are, and we're already in too deep. If either one of those people got elected and actually did something to improve our country, I'd be very surprised.

I personally will have no problem whatsoever voting for Barack Obama... A vote for McCain is simply a ringing endorsement for what has happened and is happening to our country right now. What I like about Barack is that he is beholden to no one... He has had 1.5 million donors with an average donation of just over $90... He isn't receiving PAC money and owes no one a favor except the people... I like that! This country cannot afford a McCain presidency... I will never vote for a person who supports homeschooling and school vouchers. I have never and will never support this war and I like that fact that Barack was the only one of the candidates who was right from the beginning and was against the war policy when it was not popular to do so (remember what happened to the Dixey Chicks around the same time). This country needs something different and maybe even drastic... We cannot continue down the same path that we are going now... I'm not so naive to think that everything that any candidate says will ever come true... but I like the idea of someone who is willing to at least try... McCain just thinks things are hunky-dory.... McCain can't figure out who we are even fighting against.... You're definately right, there is too much at stake to put it in the hands of someone who can't remember what day it is without Joe Liebermann whispering the answer in his ear. He is too old and out of touch with reality. A vote for McCain is nothing more but an endorsement of what is going on now...

I don't have a problem with anyone making the choice they think is right for them. To me, unless you are wealthy, don't mind paying $4.00/ gal or more for gas, despise government programs (accept for corporate welfare and programs that benefit those who make more than $200k/year), believe that this war was necessary, and believe that this economy is fantastic... Vote for McCain... things will remain the same as we have today (if we are lucky), but I honestly think he could make it alot worse. I believe in voting for your better interest and the country's better interest... I know several Wal-mart Republicans (not aimed at anyone on this forum, just folks in my area)... Just never made sense to me. They vote because of social issues like guns, gays, and abortion... All very important parts of Individual rights and choices, but you have to recognize that Republicans will never overturn Roe v. Wade because it wins them elections... If they were going to change it like it was sold to the voters in 2000 and 2004, the opportunity was never riper than with a Republican President, Republican House, Republican Congress, and a Conservative majority on the Supreme Court... Voters must recognize that they are being sold snake oil by the social conservatives that will never be resolved. I personally have never been forced to have an abortion, never had a gun taken away from me, and have never been proposed to by a gay man.... So these issues have no bearing on my life... Tuition increases, Monsterous Energy prices, Education (NCLB and what it is doing to public education), Giving better options to young people besides going to war, and creating jobs for Americans and build a stable economy. I wish all voters would do an inventory of what truly affects their daily life and vote appropriately for Democrat or Republican... Just make it for your best interest, and not for social hotbutton issues that has no effect on your daily life.

That's where we differ. I don't need a liberal court redefining words. I don't need the gov't reaching deeper into my pocket to support people who don't want to work. I don't need the indoctrination of children in local schools and colleges. I don't need the elite to tell me I can't own a firearm. I don't need another Democrat to slash the military to a level where it can't sustain an extended campaign.

If you need a babysitter who will negotiate with terrorists, vote Obama.

Me? I'll take the Constitution any day.

I recommend looking at the Bill of Rights... I enjoy the freedoms that the Constitution provides as much as anyone... I would also recommend looking up just how much the Bush administration has altered and/or taken many of these freedoms from us. This administration has done more to take our rights away than any other administration in history... Even if you don't want to believe it, please just look and try to be impartial about some of the things that have happened in the past 7 years. Indoctrination is a very strong word and something that I take personally, because both I and my wife are involved with the public school system... If we are indoctronating kids, it is only due to the NCLB Act. This act makes it so that there is no choice in content and very little gratuitous choice of subject to be taught. Those that support this true form of "Government mandated Indoctrination" by forcing teachers what to teach, are the same people who complain to the teacher about the material being too tough, or overloading their children with stuff that they didn't have to learn when they were that age. I could only wish that many of the anti-public school people could see the damage that is done to children when parents think they can be teachers... It usually lasts until the 4th grade when they realize that their kid cannot read and is so delayed that they can no longer pass them on.... I've seen it several times and unfortunately I have 3 homeschoolers within my extended family... The kids are brought back to the public schools and placed in at least one grade behind where they should be and then expect to have the school fix the problem... I seen a kid last year in the fourth grade who was old enough to be in the 6th grade and couldn't read! I worked with struggling readers in Akron where I worked with a home school/charter school 5th grade 13yr old who was assessed at a pre-K level for reading and writing! Understand that the charter schools are an attempt to privatize schools to be run as a business by businessmen who have not one care for the child and only worry about the bottom dollar... This to me is a form of child abuse! I am not saying that all homeschooling is wrong, there are certain situations when a child may have an illness or safety issues may arise, but in general I find many of the people who do so are doing a dis-service to their kids.

It's gonna be sad - whomever wins. We'll only have to hold our breath for four years - until the next one takes office.

Republicans are aftraid Obama is going to raise their taxes and turn us into a socialist government. Obama don't want that. He likes his money. He's talking big cause that's what politicians do. I'm from the Chicago area. I've seen the great Obama in action. He had the chance to make a difference here. He didn't do a thing. When he was in the state capital and had the chance to vote on bills, he voted 'Present' over 90% of the time. He didn't vote for or against, just present. Which means he sat there doing nothing - he didn't want to vote for a bad bill, so most of the time he didn't vote.

As far as the mental ability of the republican candidate, Reagan clearly showed signs of dementia before his first term as president. Yet he was elected. (I didn't vote for him either time.) I held my breath for 8 years, the country survived.

I don't care who wins. The winner is going to have to deal with oil prices much higher than todays' prices and a lot more people who will be out of work by then. I wish the winner a lot of luck.

I agree with you 100 percent Beefcake, (except about the homeschooling portion) especially regarding how much the Bush Administration has done in the way of stripping us of our civil liberties with such things as the Patriot Act... and that sad thing is it has been pawned off on us under the guise of being for our own protection. They have found that if you keep people afraid (of terrorism etc.) that you can pretty much lead the public by the nose towards things they would have other wised been outraged about.

We should be investing all of this war money into building an infrastructure for alternative energy sources so that we can become less dependent on the fossil fuels in the middle east.

The Bush administration has eroded so many years of foreign relations in the past 7 years. We need to start treating other countries like we would want to be treated instead of thinking that America is the "Best". I agree that we are a great country. I love my country. But I don't think we are the "Best" I think we are very "Blessed" and with that gift comes the responsibility of being a good steward of that power.

Absolutely! However, these things get passed through the Legislative Branch as well. You can't pin the blame on just one. They strip us of our rights, one by one, while reaching their hand deeper into our pocket. The very idea of attaching immigration laws to a defense funding bill is insane. Enough pork. Enough riders. Fix the roads and leave me alone.

All I can say is this:

There are 4 candidates, Do not let anyone tell you differently!

Rep: John McCain and Ron Paul
Dem: Barack Hussain Muhammad Obama (not joking on his name either!)
Libertarian: Bob Barr

Ron Paul is STILL RUNNING! Until McCain is chosen at the convention, Ron Paul is still a candidate!!! My Choice is still RON PAUL.
